• After agreeing to the license conditions, click at the top on 'Install app', associated with 'Step 1'.
• On the next 'File Download' page, you can choose either 'Run' or 'Save'.The first choice might be easiest. It will download the installation filesand then automatically proceed to install the application. The 'Save' optiononly downloads the installation files. You would then have to go to thelocation where you saved the downloaded files and doubleclick on the *.exefile, which would initiate the install.
• On the next security warning page, click again on 'Run', in case thatis what you chose in the previous step.
• After the files have been downloaded, perhaps following a bit of a waitwith no window appearing, a window finally does appear, indicating thestart of the application installer.
• In the next window, the 'Welcome to the ModelSim Install' popup window, click on option 'Full Product'.
• In the next 'Welcome' window click on Next.
• After a few licensing agreement screens, the 'Choose Destination Location'window appears, where you then Browse to the local Folder where you wouldlike to install the application.
• In the 'Select Program Folder' window, the default Start/Programsentry displayed seems good, otherwise you can rename the application.
• After the installation has completed, the 'Install Hardware Security Key Driver' window appears, in which you click 'No'.
• Following that is the 'ModelSim Desktop Shortcut' window, to which youcan respond according to your personal preference.
• In the next window, 'Add ModelSim To Path', you can again respond according to your personal preference.
• After clicking 'Finish' in the following menu, you are prompted to begin the license setup process, which you terminate by clicking in 'Close',since you will set up the license using an environment variable instead, after completion of the regular installation process. Ignore the possible following 'License Wizard' warning popup message by clicking on 'OK'.
• This completes the installation, except for the separate license setup described in the following section:

An environment variable should be set up or verified: As system Administrator, go to the 'start', 'settings', 'control panel','system', Advanced 'environment' menu.

• LM_LICENSE_FILE

  Make sure you don't have this variable set as both a system variable and a user variable in an incompatible way. If not already set correctly, set or add to the front of the exising list, the value:

  27010@sunlics1; 27010@sunlics2; 27010@sunlics3

  It would be a good idea to have the LM_LICENSE_FILE variable defined only as a system variable. If you have it defined also as a user variable, it wouldbe better to add those entries to the system variable definition and then remove the user variable entirely.
