To vote in Iowa, you must be registered to vote.
To qualify to register to vote, you must be:

  • A U.S. citizen,
  • An Iowa resident, and
  • At least 17 years old. A person may vote if they will be 18 years old on or before election day. In the case of primary elections, a person may vote if they will be 18 years old on or before the corresponding regular election.

If your voter information card (commonly called a voter ID card) has been lost, stolen or destroyed, you can request that a replacement card be mailed to you. There are several ways to request a replacement card: Submit a Florida Voter Registration Application or a signed, written request to our office. An ID Card can be issued at any county registrar's office free of charge. To receive a voter identification card at the county registrar's office, the voter must provide: A photo identity document or approved non-photo identity document that includes full legal name and date of birth. Documentation showing the voter's date of birth.

  1. Select your state and click “Get Info.” Select Register to Vote, which will take you to the state's online registration tool. Make Changes by Mail. Download, fill out, and mail in the National Mail Voter Registration Form. All states except New Hampshire, Wyoming, and North Dakota accept it.
  2. Change Your Voter Registration If you’ve moved, changed your name, or want to update your political party affiliation, you need to update your voter registration. Confirm You're Registered to Vote Check your voter registration status to confirm that you’re able to vote in the next election.

You cannot:

  • Be a convicted felon (unless your voting rights have been restored),
  • Be judged mentally incompetent to vote by a court, or
  • Claim the right to vote in any other place.
